Welcome to 2020

As the new President of the Suffolk Estate Planning Council, I would like to wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year! I hope this letter finds everyone well and rejuvenated for the upcoming year. The Suffolk County Estate Planning Council is looking forward to another amazing year with our lineup of five-star speakers and topics (see enclosed calendar).  As in the past, our monthly meetings will continue to offer presentations to our members from industry leaders about planning techniques, current events and shared experiences pertaining to the many disciplines in the world of estate planning.  These meetings will also offer our members the time to network with friends and colleagues in the industry, enabling everyone the opportunity to establish new relationships and resources. To that end we will be kicking off the new year with a “Holiday Hangover Party” to be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Refuge in Melville.

Our chapter has flourished over the past two years thanks to our past President, Audra Dehan, our Vice President, Jeffrey Gibralter, and our amazing board.  As a result of the board’s hard work, our chapter was honored as the recipient of the Five Star Council Award which was presented to me at the National Estate Planning Council meeting in Las Vegas.  This is the first time in the history of our Council that we have received this award and ultimately, we will strive to become the recipient of the Council of Excellence Award, as well.

I believe the key to the success of the Suffolk Chapter of the Estate Planning Council is in our membership.  I would like to challenge each member to bring in one new member this year.  If we do this, we could potentially double our membership!

As a reminder, if you have not done so already, please renew your membership as soon as possible online through our website at www.epcscny.org.  While visiting the website you should review and update your profile to ensure that it is accurate and up to date.

As always, if you have any ideas for future topics, speakers, new members, and/or sponsors please feel free to reach out and let me or one of our board members know.  We look forward to another year of serving our colleagues in the estate planning profession as well as our clients.

Sincerely,

Kim M. Smith, President
