Welcome to 2018!

The Suffolk County Estate Planning Council is thriving, with a 13% increase in our membership under the stewardship of Joanne Schiefer over the past two years.  This year we have planned nine meetings, including the Antiques Road Show for our Holiday Dinner.  Our most coveted venue includes the beautiful Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

As in the past, our monthly meetings offer presentations to our members and their guests from industry leaders about planning techniques, current events and shared experiences pertaining to the many disciplines of estate planning.  These meetings also provide the opportunity to visit with friends and establish new relationships.  Our first meeting is a breakfast event on February 7th at Jewel in Melville.  We will kick the year off with an excellent presentation by Eric Penzer, Esq. of Farrell Fritz on fiduciary obligations.  A full calendar accompanies this letter and our website will continue to provide updates on speakers and sponsors as the year progresses.

We are especially excited that our Suffolk County Surrogate Court Judge, The Honorable John M. Czygier, Jr., at the request of our new Vice President, Kim Smith, has agreed to present to the Council at one of our evening events on May 23, 2018.

We look forward to another year of serving our colleagues in the estate planning professions as well as our clients.

Audra E. Dehan, President
